doggie paintings

It's harder then I thought to fight off this internal voice that wants to justify whatever that I'm painting. I admitted to John couple days ago that it was David Hockney's paintings of his dogs that made me feel comfortable about painting my dog. There is always this thought that "a painting needs an idea! a painting should be more than formal concerns," because 99 percent of the articles about paintings are all talking about ideas so it must be wrong to paint without one. As specialized as a profession can be, within that social circle, there's still old ideas and old rules that people follow without knowing why.

Tofu pecks

Tofu pecks a lot. Sometimes she'll swallow the rocks she pick off the road, sometimes she'll just keep it in her mouth, moving it back and forth. It's like the sound of eating a hard candy. But eating rocks is no good...this is the second time she has bad, watery poops, and we think its the rocks....what else can it be...just look at the size of the rocks coming out with her watery poop....

oh~ summer

I'm just starting to learn some basic electronics and programming. Parallax's basic stamp kit is a pretty good beginner's kit.. definitely more understandable and user friendly then the electronic for dummies book. It's very different from painting, everything has its right place, even where to put a comma is important. The first two thing i want to make is my own lure coursing system for my doggie.. and an art project that i've had in mind for a while, but very difficult to do according to programming friend of mine. Hopefully i'll be able to make something by the end of summer! speaking of doggie...... she just loves tissues and papers, plastic bags and everything that's light, and white... but she's actually very gentle with her own toys, strangely enough.

sometimes i wish i could just let her off leash in the wild...

The two sides of her personality. One is what everyone sees and what everyone thinks is the only side. The beautiful, calm, affectionate, happy, hugging....etc... The other side is the more challenging side. She growls or barks to express her frustration, especially after people talking to her in high-iii pitched voice and making her jump and make her excited or after we run with her. So, problem (growling, bouncing, chewing leash, barking) only shows up when her excitement level is too high. Steve and I never had a large dog and we're not expecting that, we were sort of naively expecting a well behaving puppy. It is especially frustrating for us when we walk her on the streets with people playing with her, making her jump, without asking us or acknowledging us that they wanted to touch the dog. And she likes to get a taste of everything that's on the floor...she 'pecks.' she doesn't like people hover over her for sure...i wonder if its a large dog thing... It's definitely a challenge to own and big dog and to teach it right. Tofu's tantrum 1 : on the grass, she assumes grass as free range playground. she bounce, chews the leash, at this point if we don't pull her back to the concrete sidewalk, she'll accelerate to growling and even barking. tantrum 2 : toys in her mouth, she'll growl if we try to take it directly from her mouth. But she learned to "drop it" and that bad behavior is slowing going away. Other than that, she really is a very smart dog, She already learned to sit, stay, down and drop it and she is only 12 weeks old!
